Our Carbon Positive Promise
What is our Carbon Positive Promise?
The UK government has made a legally binding promise that as a nation, we will achieve net zero within by 2050. ‘Net zero’ means that any remaining emissions created by 2050 must be offset by effective nature-based carbon-capture.
Atmosphere IT promise to take this one step further; by becoming Carbon Positive.
We promise to support the Atmosphere whilst supporting your IT. We do this by funding Ecologi, our environmental partner, who plant trees and fund Wind Power and other environmental projects around the globe.
The combination of the projects and tree planting will more than offset our carbon emissions, making us a Carbon Positive Workforce. If you would like to find out more about the UK Government’s promise you can take a look at the WWF website here.
How it works
Each month we fund projects around the world through our partner, Ecologi. They plant 10 trees per employee, per month and also fund wind farms and other environmental projects to more than offset our CO₂ emissions, making us Carbon Positive. This equates to saving around 9 tonnes of CO₂ per year, per employee.
We also fund additional projects when sales targets are met. For every server, PC, laptop or tablet sold we’ll plant an extra tree – further offsetting our carbon emissions and supporting the Atmosphere, whilst we support your IT.
Making Employees Carbon Positive
For every employee we plant 10 trees per month, saving 9 tonnes of CO₂ per employee, per year!
Reducing CO₂ through Sales
For all computing devices sold, we fund an additional tree, to help offset the products’ impact on the environment!
Saved So Far
As of April 2022 we have saved a total of 3.75 tonnes of CO₂ and have funded 1494 new trees, and numbers keep climbing!
How are we doing?
Our green promise and Ecologi partnership started in April 2022, and we immediately planted an additional 1344 trees for historical equipment sales.
If you’d like to see our forest, make a donation of trees or support further CO₂ reducing projects, please see Atmosphere IT’s Forest.
A bit about the project
Ecologi was created so people like you can take on the climate crisis. We know it’s preventable. And we know it’s not going to save itself.
The tools that we associate with fighting climate change are inadequate. What if that changed and the billions of us who care became empowered?
There are enough climate solutions that are out there, that if we supported them, it’d undo 30 years of carbon damage by avoiding 1,500 billion tonnes of CO₂.
